Description of Species Deciduous trees, to 18 m high; bark dark – grey. Leaves alternate, broadly obovate or obovate – oblong, obtuse or shortly acuminate, narrowed at the base, drenate – denticulate, glabrous; lateral nerves 10 – 18 pairs. Flowers white, sessile, few together in spikes, at the ends of branches; bracts 3, unequal. Calyx obscurely pubescent; lobes ovate, obtuse. Petals about 3 – 4 cm long, elliptic, obtuse, white, caducous. Anther filaments red.
